Question 2nd Coat Question

ive noticed that first coats go on very smooth, but if i missed a small spot, and decide to spray a 2nd coat its not as smooth as the first. first is almost like glass and the 2nd is a little rougher. is this normall with powder on top of powder or is there a trickto nicer 2nd coats?

Are you trying to just touch up the light spot or do you cover the whole part? Are you sanding between coats and are you spraying them hot (hot flock) or cold?
Do you have an adjustable kv gun?

that happens with glossy powders. 2nd coat glossy's can be tough. if a 2nd is needed w/ a glossy powder let it cool, sand & apply over the whole thing.

After the sanding I'd blow it off with clean, dry air.

It sounds like you could be having a transfer efficiency problem. The 2nd coat might be a little thin. A thin coat will give you a rougher, tight orange peel effect. Do you have a gage to check your cured powder thickness?
