I am testing my new oven for temp and am using a laser non contact thermometer.
When I shoot a chunk of shiny aluminum. it registers 40 deg. yet when I measure a pop can next to it, it register 375 deg. I thought perhaps it was the shinyness of the al but the same happens when I measure on a dull part of the al. Any ideas Thanks Fred Mc. |

IR guns are tricky. Different metals/materials have different emissivity. With a little practice, you'll get used to the gun. I acctually rarely use my gun. You get to know when a part is curing after a while
