Electrical Charge?

I was pc'ing an al. wheel today with Columbia Super Clear. When I had got about 1/2 way through coating the wheel I noticed the electrcal clip was not connected to the wheel.
After I connected it I didn't notice any difference in how the coating adhered. Is it really necessary? I use a HF gun.

i shoot stuff in my hand without the lead sometimes.

Man, you've got some big brass ones. When I shoot stuff and forget to clip on the ground, the part takes on a charge of its own, from the powder or the ion cloud or something , and starts sparking to ground. I got the **** shocked out of me once when I touched the parts rack after shooting a part with no ground connected.

nah, we recently got a nordson, so i'm cheating. i don't know what kind of magical electronics they put in their box, but the thing never arcs anywhere. ...even though you can feel your hair stand up when you pull the trigger.

that's funny!!!! my Wagner does the same thing sometimes. when i find myself grounded that is!!
