Default Polyester over Epoxy

I am new to this powder coating process but have been reading all the posts.
We build a lot of railings and stair systems and in the past have sent them out for pcing. The coating guy tells me they use an epoxy primer and then a polyester top coat as rust is a real problem here (on the coast). As we are thinking about installing a system of our own is this the way to go? How would you apply this-prime with the epoxy and while still hot apply the polyester? Also, one other question and I hope it isn't inappropiate as this
is the Caswell forum. Has anyone every used a Mitsuba Gun and their thoughts on it. Thank you Pat

Find out what products are being used and read the product data sheets. These are available from the supplier, either on their website or upon request. They should tell you exactly how to apply both products and if both products are from the same supplier you'll be able to find out if they are compatable. It should probably tell you in the information on the primer what is suitable to put over top of it. I would think if you're using polyester, you should use a polyester primer, but i don't know.

I've not heard of a polyester primer, all the primers I'm aware of are an epoxy. Polyester powders are fine over an epoxy.
