Question Re: double coat

One example: gloss black over gloss black.
More to give the piece the depth look.
Not like you're looking at the paint but
into the paint

I dont think it would work over a solid color.........I would try a high gloss clear.

And be sure to lightly sand with 220 grit if you`re allowing the parts to fully cool between coats

don't fully cure the first coat, either. put it in until the powder flows out evenly, then remove it, shoot it, and fully cure. that way the second coat will cross link with (melt into) the first.

Lightly sand the gloss black coat before applying the clear coat? I know that's how people apply multiple coats of clear paint for the "depth" look, but I've never tried it with powder coating. I've noticed that fingerprints from excessive handling sometimes show through a clear coat and just assumed that scuffing would also...

if you don't fully cure the base coat, i don't think you'll need to scuff it. if you have any imperfections in the base coat, you can sand them out. i haven't ever been able to see scuff marks under a top coat.

you won t see scuff marks under the clear ,but if you doube coat right away after doing half cure on first coat no need to scuff i would not even touch the part , just blow with a air hose if you suspect any dust on part before recoat .

Every time I put clear over black it turns green
Also when I do dormant colors such as orange then coat over with a textured it also turns the black green

This cover was done with the dormant orange then I coated it with a texture.
Under the lights and the flash it looks great but the moment you put it in the sun light it looks like a green turd!

Can some one explain this?

Oh yea sorry to high jack this thread.
