Default Re: pro gun comparison?

I have an EW Hobby Gun and I have a Caswell 50kv gun. I don't mind using either one, really. I used them long enough that I've found little tricks that seem to help and there are a couple of guys that have tried mods that seem to help both guns. I haven't done either mod on either gun. But I do plan to real soon on both.

On the other hand, for me to buy a high dollar gun (I don't run a business officially, but do a lot for other people) I've been eyeballing the EW Pro. Pricey, but I will wait till I try the mods on my guns first.

There are several things you can and have to try if you don't want to buy another gun. Air pressure is one, making sure you shake the **** out of your powder before you load your gun. Don't load your cup full, about half. Use your voltage and sometimes, don't use any voltage to charge the powder.

I like my Caswell gun, but I don't like the cup on top. I like the EW gun, but not enough controls to suit me.

So I guess that kind of hinged around your question. But there is some thoughts for you to consider, I guess. You might want to look at some of the sticky's on the EW forum for the mods and tips. Try this post. http://forum.eastwoodco.com/showthre...1449#post11449

Cool Re: pro gun comparison?

Definitely try the mods to the gun. I was having terrible problems with faraday cage on candy coats for a while. I drilled the holes in the fluidizer tip(is that what you call it?) and feathered the leading edge of the piece in the barrel. If you shoot the corners first with the diffuser tip removed, then put the tip back on, and coat the whole part it should come out very well.

I was quite surprised at the difference in coverage. The ease of use brought the fun back to powder coating.

if you do a search for gun mods the thread should come up. One of the great guys on this forum did a nice walk through of them for you with pictures and everything.

I owe him for saving me a LOT of aggravation.
