Default Gun quality

I bought the Eastwood gun a while back and it broke on me - right where the handle attaches to the static tube. They sent me a new replacement gun - again, this one was defective. It worked pretty good, but the quality of the gun was absolutely terrible. I've sent both of them back and will fully be refunded...except for the initial shipping cost I paid, which really sucks. Anyways, the only other gun which seems to be better than the cheapos in the caswell plating high output gun for $230. What is the quality like with this gun? If I am going to spend $230 and only get a 30 day warranty, I would first like the piece of mind that The gun and power supply unit are built to last...not like eastwood's cheap ass gun.

Thumbs up Re: Gun quality

This is the gun I use and the quality is very good for the price of the gun.Do a search on the forum to see the modifications to the gun that some guys have done and you will get great results. The only drawback with the gun for me is the minimal amount of powder one must use in the cup to get a nice cloud and no powder spurts. When doing large items like an mc frame it would be nice not to have to reload the cup.A big help also is a quality air pressure regulator at the gun and good air filtration/water seperation.Hopefully someday Caswell will come up with a pro gun with greater powder capacity at an affordable price.

the caswell guns are good. They'll break eventually, but after a lot of use. I don't think they can be beat for their price. I agree about looking up the mods others have done. Some have made hoppers too. Good stuff.

sorry for the double post. Anyone know the ballpark price on a base itw gema system? I suggested to someone in another post to look at those as an alternative to the $4000 systems, mainly bc I don't know the price. They probably aren't much less expensive.

I pretty much agree with everyone on the 50 KV gun. I have it and an EW hobby gun. It's been gathering dust, for the most part. I just did one of the 50 KV mods with drilling the hole. But need to do the second hole and take a better look at the other mods. I to wish the cup arrangement was a bit different, but it works good for the most part. Just learning the air and flow adjustments gave me a pretty nice cloud, just don't like having to shake the gun to get powder up.

The eastwood gun was total ****...it was like a fisher-price toy. I think I am going to go ahead and buy myself the caswell 50 KV system. Looks much better than any of the economical guns out there. once that one breaks on me, I am going to probably build my own gun to meet my own specifications
