Default Double Coat

How do I apply two coats on the same part? I want to apply a first coat, then bake it, and then take it out of the oven and apply a second coat. The reason for this is because I keep getting runs in my parts because I apply to much powder, but that's the only way I can get into the tight corners due to the farady effect. How long do I bake the first coat before I pull it out of the over and apply the second coat?

Try a thinner first coat, do the problem areas first. It takes a lot of powder to make a run. I've found being patient with the powder helps. It may take a while to get the second coat to stick. Many fine dustings seem to work for me. You'll get it.

Another method that has been used for second coats, is to cure it and pull it from the oven and let it get down to around 180 deg and hot flock it. But be careful with hot flocking or you can get to much powder on on it. It starts to flow as you spray.

Otherwise cure the first coat and let it cool and just spray the second coat. Make sure you have a good ground on the part

What gun do you have?

Has anybody tried to powder coat multiple thin layers to eliminate the orange peel effect? Also, once you have an orange peel effect do you need to reblast an remove first PC layer and do it again?

Have you ever tried using a rouge polishing compound? The reason I ask is because the part has a lot of nicks and crannies to get it all with wet sand and buffing.
