Default Gas tanks

I finally have some gas tanks to coat. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to rid these of fumes. I was thinking brake clean or parts washer. Am I right?

Seems to me like brake clean would be about the same. I don't think oven heat would make them blow (just my opinion). But when I want to weld a gas tank, I run an exhaust/tail pipe into the tank and let it run for about 20 minutes and weld till my hearts content. Done many this way.

How does that work? The best guess on my part is the heat & carbon monoxide from the exhaust evaporates and kind of disinfects/fumigates the tank. Been doing it this way for about 30 years.

It makes me think that a slow heat up in an oven isn't going to hurt anything. Open flame will for sure.

Again, just my opinion, and not a fact and I'm not suggesting you try this. This just what I do or would do. And I'm not responsible for any problems with it, if you decide to try this. Try at your own risk. I've just stated the facts as I have done it and how I think it would work with an electric oven and not a gas one.
The End.

Can't you just bake it off, then re-seal?

I seem to recall someone saying H.D. used to seal the tanks, but no longer do so. You could try calling a dealer and ask.
