Powder Coating Aluminum Rims

Looking to get this look from powder coating polished aluminum rims. I have a couple of pounds of Black Chrome powder from Caswell and I ran a test run on some aluminum bars we have and it comes out blue looking rather than this. Any suggestions would help. These rims were plated in Japan.

Which powder? Only black chrome I find is Caswells.

this is an example of NIC's black chrome over their Super Chrome base, fyi. It doesn't quite look like what your after though.

I really like that frame BTW. I like the black chrome look of the powder that Caswell sells but I noticed it has a bluish tint to it over polished aluminum. It almost looks like it is spotty. Kind of like oil in water blue.

if you preheat the rim and spray it hot you can see the powder melting on it slowly getting darker. do this till it gets to the darkness you want.
