Default Moisture Problems???

I just bought a new compressor this week and it came with an air dryer. I thought awesome!...freebee! Well, it doesn't work

Anyways, I blew off a few parts to dry them after degreasing and using Columbia Coatings Iron Phosphate, when I saw water vapor coming out of the line. It was enough water to actually wet the parts a bit. I drained the tank and let it fill back up...still had the same amount of moisture.

I tried coating said parts and the powder wouldn't stick AT ALL Would the moisture in the air cause this?

i don t know if it would stop the powder from sticking , but i know for sure that it will ruin the paint job .
removing that moisture from the line is a must

I went to Lowes and bought an inline moisture separator for now. I can't believe the cost of the good air dryers

Any other ideas of why it might not be sticking to the part? I used the same process that i've used in the past. Degrease, Blast (AO), Clean Off, Iron Phosphate, then Rinse, Shoot.

Baz, you do amazing work! Your site is super nice and easy to work.

How did you get this finish? It looks awesome!

Just wondering how far you mounted you free dryier from the compressor,I do belive that they should be at least 25feet away so that the air can cool before it goes into the dryer.
I am going to get ane for mine I think and run a 1/2 air line to it that I can set out side to let the air cool then hook it up to the dryer then out to the PC gun or to the blast cabinet.

a filter or a separator has to be mounted away from the compressor but not a dryer

I'm using a Harbor Freight hobby gun. My ground was connected to the hanging hook.

This is my compressor...you can see the dryer I have sitting on top of the air hose. It's the first thing connected to the compressor. I drain it every morning when I get to the shop.

I'm gonna have to try that color...looks great!

Thanks, John

Well, I've been using a throw away separator and pre-heating my parts. Seems to be working well.

I can coat the parts just fine. It just takes awhile and I'm wasting TONS of powder It just doesn't wanna stick to the parts. Can someone tell me why!? PLEASE!

Get a EW pro gun. I was in the same boat as you are. After I got a new gun it made a big difference. I still got my HF gun in a junk pile in my garage.
