Hello All, I am in the process of starting a powder coating shop and am trying to put together a business plan. My main hang up is what I project to make per month. I was wondering if someone already with a shop could give me some info on how much they make per month as a base line to work from. I know it will differ from location to location, so I am just looking for a set of base numbers to compare to. Any info would be a great help.
Thanks Joe |

that's a very tough one to answer bro. there are so many factors that influence a business' ability to generate income. things like population, average income, necessity, marketibility blablabla all inlfuence potential income.
What type of operation are you planning? What size parts are you going to be able to coat? What is your intended market? Who do you plan on serving?

The setup I intend on will be a 8X8X10 oven. the shope size would be approx 1200sqft. I intend to supply service to anyone that needs any metal part coated. To date I have coated motorcycle parts, lawn ornaments, oil can racks and a few other small items. I know there are many other veriables, like I said I was just looking to get some base line of what another small shop may be doing month to month to work from. The numbers don't need to be exact, I would never ask anyone for there financial data just an idea of what is being done. If anyone wants to send my info privately they can send to my personal e-mail at mechjd@aol.com.
Thanks again |

well for me the money coming in was a reflection of the advertizing i was doing. When i continuously advertized, i got business, when i stopped advertizing so do the business... marketing alone can be a one man continuous operation.... i think you need to determine what you need to make per month first, instead of what you can make, then grow from there. What you can make will be a result of your hard work, determination, marketing, equipment, knowledge and the surrounding area..good luck
