Default stripping powdercoat.

well i was originally going to give my stuff to a sandblasted but have read that its not good for quad/bmx parts (thats what im going to be doing most of the time) because it weakens the welds alot after a couple times of being stripped. what other ways are common that the pro's use? i have head something about "burning it off" ?

thanks
espo

Yes you can burn it off or you can use permetex gasket maker (it takes off powdercoat) or I tryed today dupli-color paint stripper in a spray can and it worked really good.

I have some new powder coated brackets that VHT strip fast would not touch. Went to auto paint shop bought aircraft remover it did nothing, but if you read the fine print it says do not use on aircraft. I even baked them at 550 degrees for 1.5 hours they still look the same. I need to purchase a industral type brush on stripper. Any Ideas or brands would help. Thanks, Todd

Ditto on the Sovent Kleene. Super good stripper. Salty, but real good.

I'm sure woody means Permatex Gasket Remover, not maker. Burn off ovens operate in the 800-900 degree range and you'd still have to blast afterwards. I'd be more concerned with that than with stripper/blasting.

I have always used the self-cleaning setting in the oven Burns the powder right off, turns it to dust. just wipe off and reclean and re shoot.

so if i get a powdercoating stripper, but it in a big bin, i put in the part, it will take most of it off and then i can just throw it into my powdercoating oven and let it burn it off?

just want to make sure i have this correct.

thanks
