Default Few Questions

1) I have done a lot of single stage colors and they all turned out well! Except for the orange tonight but thats another question. I now have a bunch of parts! that I need to do in a candy color. (Blue and gold) Wondering if you have any tips on doing this as it will be my first time doing a candy...

2) Wondering if a metallic blue would require a base coat or clear coat?

3) I sprayed a high gloss orange tonight and it turned out bad! It had like yellow blotches in it and one part was a really really dull yellow. Not bright at all! Just wondering if this could be because of contamination? I am going to blast all the parts again, clean them extremely well, clean the gun spotless and try it again! Any suggestions here?

Thanks a million!
Mark

I reblasted the parts and cleaned them extremely well! I sprayed them fairly thick but still they are really dull. I need to figure out whats going on and why! I have more parts I need to get started on and got to get these finished!

Do anyone have any suggestions?

BTW Its columbia coatings Super Mirror Orange. Do I need a base coat or anything? I am just spraying it on bare metal.

1) Candy colors look best over a polished material or chrome. If applying over something else you need a base coat of something like x-treme chrome.

2) Is the metallic blue a translucent/candy powder? If it is you don't need a clear. If is isn't, I would clear it.

3) I can't see the pics

1) I have a chrome base ordered. I was just looking on tips and steps to apply it.

2) It is a metallic color. Thanks, I will probably clear it then.

3) I started a new thread. I need a response on this asap!

Thanks for the help!

I don't know what type of gun you're using but regardless, fully cure your chrome base coat.

I am going to try the orange again tomorrow for the third time. I am going to blast the hubs and recoat and I am going to just sand the a arms and recoat. I am going to make sure that the coating is thick enough and will try to get as even coverage as possible!

If you have any suggestions you can let me know.

Also wondering if you have any steps that I could follow for doing the candy color? Should I fully cure the base chrome, then let cool, then spray the candy blue? Anything I should change or add?

Thanks a million!

Alright I have got the problem with the orange figured out I believe. I was talking to the ones who supply me with it and they also think that it was labeled wrong and that I got candy orange and not mirror orange.

I have the metallic blue ordered and have clear ordered with it as well.

All I have left to ask is for steps on applying the candys. Should I fully cure the chrome base first? I don't have an idea on where to start with the candys.

Thanks a million everyone!
