Clean clean and clean them again. Since these are solid colors your using, you can go over the chrome with a scotchbrite or lightly blast to help with adhesion. I would out gas those at 450 degrees for an hour to see if the chrome will hold up. If it bubbles/blisters it should be stripped. I would spray the chrome first and fully cure it. Do the red next 1/2 - 3/4 cure and then shoot the whole rim with clear and fully cure according to the cure instructions for the clear. If you spray the chrome over the red, theres a good chance it will bleed thru.

You don't say what you're cleaning with. Be sure to remove any polishing compounds that may be on them. Hot soapy water and rinse well.
Can you post a pic of the rim?

After I shoot the chrome should I let the rim return to room temp before I shoot the red? Also will there be any problems with the clear going over a fully cured chrome?

I can't see the pic, won't open for me. Yes, let the chrome powder cool to room temp. Clear will dull the chrome effect somewhat. I have to ask, why the chrome powder on a chrome rim?

The customer wants the chrome+ram red effect. After checking out the rims more closely I've decided not to do them, they are pitted pretty bad and I think it would be a waste of time. Thanks for your help harley dad.
