Default Candy over Candy question

I have a Harley fender that I laid down a metallic gold, and then a candy orange over it. My question is; if I now sand the candy orange to shoot a second coat of candy orange will it retain the translucent look as to see the gold metallic under it? Obviously when you sand it, you can no longer see through it and the gloss is gone. Thanks!

yes it will retain the translucent
how ever I've only done it with 600 grit sand paper
don't know if it works for lower grits.

I did an atv frame last week and had some spots that were lighter and other places on the frame there were a few whitish spots.I recoated and the frame came out great, just a little darker which the customer liked even better. In the sunlight the chrome basecoat was still visible.

yes it will retain it s translucent look but it will be darker so you will loose some transparency.
also when sanding if you remove more material in some places and less in others
you will end up with darker in some places and lighter in others
