Default first time doing new in the bag drums and calipers

What would you do for prep?
Bake off oily coating, sandblast it off, use some powerful solvent?

BTW - i'm trying to find a good bang for the buck environmentally friendly solvent to put in a parts washing bin I'm being given...any ideas?)

That's a good question. I have some to do also. Someone will chime in I'm sure. I just wonder if you have to totally take them apart.

I cleaned thourally with Brakeclean. then pre-bake to burn off any residue. I did mine in chrome and Lolly blue. Turned out great.

Didnt take them apart either. The seals are made of Viton rubber, good to 500*+ so, perfectly fine in PC temps

I normally Simple Green them and then do a quick media blast in case I missed anything. Then bake that sucker for a little while to burn off anything.

Then you are good to go.

And Dan is right about disassembly. I do them all the time and never disassemble.
