Default Masks and plugs questions

I am still getting set up but am asking in advance so I get off to a good start. Are the silicone plugs made to be used in the oven? Can you powder coat a piece and remove the plugs before putting it in the oven and the PC won't run into the holes? Can regular painters masking tape or regular masking tape be used as long as its removed before the piece goes into the oven? And last but not least, what other things are commonly used to plug holes (like paper, wooden dowels or sticks, screws in threaded holes, play dough, etc).

some plugs are made to handle cure temps, some don't but when you order them make sure of the heat they can handle , I've seen some on ebay that are good only to 300 deg
some people leave the plugs and fuly cure powder
I remove them before they go in the oven because powder tends to overbuild around the plug and looks awfull. powder won't run in to the threads.
other things I use is aluminum foil , and works perfect
as for tapes I only use powder coating green tape good up to 450deg and remover after flowout, if not powder can fall from the tape in to areas you don't want .

everything you are asking is learn with time and practice , that's what makes this fun

I appreciate the info. I know a lot will come will experience but I am trying to avoid some of the basic pitfalls from the get go. I was most interested in the tape info as I wasn't sure if it was a must have or you could unmask after powder coating before curing with the same results. You say remove after flow out. Could you remove before placing in the oven or will that be impossible with making a mess?
