Default valve cover question

I have a guy who wants a honda valve cover powdercoated red wrinkle with the raised letters polished. I was wondering if I should: polish - clear - then red wrinkle, or polish - red wrinkle - then clear? I'm not sure what the outcome would be clearing over the wrinkle. I was wanting to clear the polished letters to keep them from oxidizing. I tried searching but didn't find anything about wrinkle & clear. Thanks Jason

polish letters then coat the valve cover and then clear everything
if you are not ussing clear on the valve cover then clear the letters before coating the cover.
I don't like clear over wrinkles, I like that flat stock look of wrinkles

Here is how I would do it.

Polish letters but without any compounds.

Shoot wrinkle red.

While wrinkle red is coated and NOT cured clean off the letters with a semi damp foam brush carefully.

With your mouth blow off excess build up.

Bake in oven to cure.

Then go back over and polish letters with compound.

You can use a semi gloss clear or a lower gloss clear on wrinkles to still keep the semi flat look. If you are not sure how the clear will look like over it shoot some sample panels. Also shoot a test panel polished with the clear by itself no wrinkle to see if it will look good.

Hope this helps.
