I know one thing.. I think it would be very hard to do this as a full time job.. Meaning, its alot of work for the money.. and its kinda a cut throat ocupation..

Unless of coarse you have a contract with a large company and have million dollars laying around for a convayer system..

You will need a large sandblasting cabnet or a ROOM just for blasting..

You will need a LARGE oven if not a walk in style oven.. (they arnt cheap)

You can use ANY powder with an eastwood gun.. if you dont already have it, get the high peformance fluidizer for the gun..

I get powders from alot of places.. Not one place has everything i want..

You can get the powders from:

Casewell, eatwood, powder buy the pound, columbia coatings,, and there are lots more..

You should also use blast media with low silicate because its harmfull to your health..

Read up on the forum,, there is alot to learn..

Hope this helps..

Brian

Welcome to the mad world of PC'ing
To answer some of your questions, I guess you set up your shop that better suites your shop size and needs. I have my powder coat booth in the same room as my ovens. I keep my oven doors closed until I need to use them. I have a good fan for keeping most of the powder out of the room. Media blasting is in another part, actually an attached building where I do some of my other work. It gets pretty dirty around the cabinet. There is a book out that you can get that will give you some of the basic's of starting out and what to do and how to do it. But time and practice is the key to learning/doing Powder Coating.

Welterracer also gave you some good points to observe. Unfortunately it is not a get rich quick scheme. Take's time. One thing you don't need to do, starting out is, buy a bunch of powder that will sit around for long periods. When you get a job in, order your powder and then start your prep work. Powder will usually arrive in two to three days in most cases. The book I mentioned is "Powder Coaters Handbook" from Eastwood or someone else. I don't think Caswell has it.

You will want to spend time reading and searching the Forum, there is a TON of info and answers in here and other forums. Read, read read and practice, practice, practice. Good Luck

Forgot to mention, Search the forums and DO the mods to your Hobby gun. It will make a world of difference in it's performance. Not a PRO gun, but it will do to get your feet wet.

i didn't see it mentioned, but invest your money first in a compressed air system. prepping parts is what makes or breaks pc'ing.
