candies are very temperature sensitive, as in if you over heat them, they either drip or flow away from the edges. 180C is 356F, so maybe try placing them in the oven at 300F for 10min or so, then bump it up to 350F. that's just what i would try.
i have powder coated this little holding tool candy blue, here is wot i done,
shot blast and clean component
powder coated high gloss white, cure at 180degC 10 mins, allow to cool.
heat component to 180degC again and leave for 5 mins to cool slightly,
powder coated candy blue and cure at 180degC 10mins,
here are the pics, it looks amazine in the first pic but from some views there are still traces of the white showing through, why did this happen?? is it because i used high gloss white? am i cureing wrong? how do i go about re coating in candy blue?
im very stuck so any help would be appreciated

did i make a mistake by using gloss as a base coat? should it be rubbed down before applying the candy?
thank you for your help, its very much appreciated
no, for something like this, though, i'd only partially cure the base coat. after you see the base coat gel (gloss over), give it another 2-3 minutes. then pull it out of the oven, let it cool to maybe 200F or so, shoot your candy as evenly as possible, and then fully cure it by placing it in the oven at 300F for 10 min, then maybe bumping it up to 350 for another 10-15min. i'm not a pro with candies, that's just what i'd try.
do u mean cure it at 300 for 10 mins and while it is still in the oven up the temp to 350?
or cure at 300 and remove, then place in oven after part has partialy cooled to the hotter temp of 350 for a further 10 mins?
i meant while the part is still hanging in the oven. so stick it in at 300, let it flow out and stabilize for about 10min, then just turn the heat up on the oven to 350. i can't guarantee this is the right way, it's just what i would try. my thought is that the powder won't flow out as fast and pull away from hard edges.
Just a reminder powder cures at part metal temp, not oven temp. Candies and such like to flow away from edges. You can use a file on sharp edges to take them down a bit. Looking at the pics I'm guessing you had it hanging upside down. Try hanging it like it is in the first pic.
i did hang it the way it is in the 1st pic, i had 2 pieces of 6mm st st tube in each end and suported on some blocks,
so gloss base colours is ok then with candys??
