Outgass.. clean very well with acitone.. and shoot..
New guy here, first post.
I have the Eastwood kit and have had good results with it but never coated aluminum much less polished. Just bought a new set of polished aluminum wheels and want to coat them, are there any precautions to take?
I did a search already and see that aside from cleaning them, they should be preheated. Any issues with coating polished aluminum?
Thanks in advance. Joe

If they are new, They are probably coated with some kind of clear already. This must be identified. Cook the new wheel (just one for starters) for an hour or more at, or above, curing temp of the powder you plan on using. I'd go 450, for about an hour to an hour and a half. If the wheel yellos, or turns brownish, It's liquid paint clear. If it doesn't, then it's powder. If it's powder, you can coat over it, but I'd still strip the wheels myself, but that's up to you. The pre-heating would depend on whether the wheels are cast, or biillet. Cast will require Outgassing. Billlet,.... not so much.

Thanks for the replies.
Guess I should have stated these are cast wheels and bare polished with no top coating.
Guess I will give one a try this weekend and see what happens.
Thanks again for the advice.
