One option vs the Nordson if you're going spend that much is a Wagner. Also available here:

PBTP has a Wagner Set up with a 3 pound fluidizing hopper, controller, pump, hand Hi-Coat C4 Hand gun and all the hose connections for a small investment...I know they also stock parts on the guns so you will have no problem there. For me, I use the King Coat and a Caswell gun, and I am happy with both. The Hopper has changed the way I can shoot metallics and clear's but I will always keep my Caswell as back up.

Worst yet is when I try to do large parts like wrought iron or steel ornamental railings, there is just not enough amperage going through it to may the attraction.

Other issues with the gun are the fact that it gets filled up with powder inside the actual gun, and yes i've cleaned it out completely and tried it and still no better.
I actually spoke to a rep at NIC industries and he has tested all the guns on the current market with their powders, and although he advised me to get a Nordson Shirko, they are really tough to find and still way too expensive.

I've looked at your work though Scottrods, and if you are doing that with the EW Pro gun, then I should really get a second look at this gun from the manufacturer, you do some nice work man
Thanks on the Compliment. I don't do enough work yet though to be professional grade,.... But thanks.

I went to Home Depot and bought the 8 foot long grounding rod for electrical installations, and drove it into the ground. I use that ground primarily for my parts. I also hook my gun grounding cable up at times, but usually do not have to to get attraction.

Recently, I read someone on another forum saying he used his hand to allow the current to bleed from the part, helping to start the attraction and keep back ionization down. I tried it and it works too. You won't get shocked, but you may feel your clothing "suck up" to you a little as it charges you, pretty much, along with the part.

Ground and Static are tricky. I'd recommend checking out a couple more forums for more info on grounding the part/system for attraction. Eastwood's is good, Powder buy the pound's is good also. Check 'em out.

I don't think your gun is the problem.

The 2lb hopper is tupperware that you can get at any dollar store...A real hopper feeds air through a membrane using compressed air. I looked up Nordson units and they carry a hopper hand gun as well as a box feeder..which do you have ?

It's not less expensive, its the same price plus Brian talks you into spending $200.00 for a nozzle that can't even spray metallic's and has a value of $20.00 -been there done that, sent it back !

SECOND, FLUIDIZATION SERVES TO PRECONDITION THE POWDER, BREAKING UP AGGLOMERATIONS, REMOVING ABSORED MOISTURE, AND IMPROVING THE HANDLING AND FLOWABLILTY OF THE MATERIAL. The King Coat Gun easily does multipule coats including metallics with no hidden costs. I also know that many of the hyper smooth guns have been sent back to cc. Interesting, TY aren't you on another forum stating that you have the pony from cc not the hyper smooth?
Hey Jollycoat would you please show me where I said I had the Hypersmooth 02? He was asking for suggestions on a gun and I was giving him my opinion. Please pay more attention to peoples posts before you try and call them out on a public forum. Thank you.

That is true the two guns are the same price. But as I said before I would love to see a direct link to the $20.00 nozzle. If you are going to bash a company's product please show some evidence to back up your story. Its common courtesy to do so.

Here are my opinions, if you want a gun with a fluidizing hopper from the factory get the King gun. If you want a easy to operate gun for quick color changes with a "remote cup" style hopper get the hyper smooth. Also you can build a fludizing hopper setup for the Hyper smooth for about $60.00 depending on the material prices where you live. I have even built a fluidizing hopper for my CC Pony Gun.

oh, i thought i saw $800 vs $900. my mistake.

do some research on tribos before bashing a product. they have inherent advantages and limitations by design. why exactly do you think corona guns are so common when they're so sensitive to faraday cages, back ionization, and whatnot?
