    Default New CW's 50KV system

I got my new CW's 50 KV system yesterday and planned to use it today . I unpacked it today and was getting ready to use it . I was going to clean it before use and when I took the Air Regulating screw it was sort of stuck . When I got it out the end was broken off and stuck in the gun pipe . I drilled a small hole in the part still stuck in the pipe and screwed a small screw into it and was able to pull it out . After I got the numb out it seemed that glue has the hole completely blocked . I tried to blow through it , by mouth , and it's completely blocked . I thought this screw was to let air by pass the gun and blow straight into the spray pipe . I did go ahead and use it on the a bumper bracket to try it out anyway . What a difference 30K volts make . The powder went on the part great , but I'm sure the gun needs some help . I think the I'm right about the screw hole should be open for air/powder to pass through , but was hoping for a 2nd opinion . I e-mailed Caswell's today and I'm sure they will take care of any problems , but if it's something that I can fix myself I would rather do that than sending the unit back and waiting on a replacement . I'm not knocking the system or caswell's , I'm sure the system will be great and if not I'm sure Caswell's will take care of it . I was just hoping to be able to correct this myself , today . Thanks , six .

You are correct. The screw is an adjustable device and limits air flow. It is also supposed to be removed when the gun is cleaned for a color change etc...There is a mod where you cut the little end tip off and therefore remove any adjustment, but that mod makes the gun spray better. I will see if I can find the link...

I've found the mods thread . I did them on my HF system and they worked great . The problem wasn't that the tip broke off , it's what I would have cut off anyway . It's that it was glued into the pipe and now the glue has the passage ways blocked and I don't know how to get the glue out to reopen the passage . The hole is full depth but the passage ways on the sides are blocked and no air powder can pass . I don't know where the passage should be to cut the glue out . Thanks , six .

I would get a replacement gun. Its only got a 30 day warranty and if you start trying to fix it you may void the warranty. I never had my gun apart further than that so I couldn't instruct you how to remedy that. If it were me I would get another gun...

I got the gun fixed last night . I was right about the glue running down the air passage . I ended up having to take the gun pipe apart , so I could get to the front of the hole . I finally got it opened up , but that's some tough glue they use , lol . I attached the picture of the blockage . I think I'm going to ream the hole out biggier . I think it's still under sided what it should be , but it's spray's great and the 50KV power supply is awesome . I've got a valve cover I just coating in the oven , it went on great . Very Happy , it will still take some tinkering but I'm sure it's going to be great .

Glad you got it sorted out. I hate when the quality control causes an issue like that where you have to start fixing something right out of the box. But I guess with all the mods we do we are already fixing something right out of the box.

p.s. I think I read about someone else having this glue issue but searched and could not find the thread. He pretty much did what you did to fix it. I just didn't want you to void the warranty in case you were a heavy handed repair man.

QC can't catch everything . It's all good , I just changed more than I expected . I wasn't disappointed with it all , I understand how it works now . The valve cover sprayed good , but had some micro white spots in the clear . I looked at them under 10X magnification and it looks like a single grain of powder didn't melt . I switched to a new bag of clear and it was definatelly contaminated clear . The specks almost sparkle , it looks good just not what I was expecting ,, lol . I'm still learning ,, six .
