I would go with the 50KV setup from Caswell...
Caswell Inc. - High Voltage Powder Coating System
Good adjustable gun for the casual hobbiest
I am in the market for a new pc gun. I have the hotcoat gun but that took a dump on me. What is a good gun to get for the casual hobbyist. I don't wanna spend tons of money as I just do this on my own stuff but want something decent. Should I get another hotcoat gun![]()

Any other opinions
I'll probably be buying another better gun soon too. I'm leaning toward the King coat,.... maybe the hypersmooth..... They cost a lot more than the caswell 50kv gun though.... but likely would do me a better job for a long time, with more options and settings. I did a BMX frame and Handle bars and forks tonight in 2 coats (NIC powders, Alien silver with Bently Blue Top coat) and the EW pro 1100 gun I have, did an excellent job, but I'm not likely to buy another one if this one takes a dump. I'll definitely step up to that next level, if not all the way to Wagner or Gema. I make almost NO money off this stuff thus far, but when I get through with all the family freebies, maybe they'll pay off in word of mouth.....

Where do I get a king coat.
You can get the King gun from Powder By The Pound. If you are going to make the leap to a high end gun then I would suggest the Hyper Smooth 02 unit from Columbia Coatings with the multi coat nozzle. With the multi coat nozzle you can do as many cold coats as you want. I did 10 cold coats with it and it showed no signs of letting up! The 10th coat went on as easy as the 1st! Columbia is also coming out with a fluidized bed hopper setup in the near future for shooting larger volumes of powder.
How much are these other guns. I wasn't planning on spending over $250. So basically what is the best gun for that price.

For that price range there are the Caswell 50KV gun and the hypersmooth pony. The caswell gun I believe has a one month warranty and the hypersmooth pony has a 1 year warranty. That was kind of my reasoning for getting the pony. I would suggest reading the pros and cons of the two before buying.
Also hey SCOTTRODS .. have seen some of your other posts on the other forums and noticed you are here in good ole Garland also. What part of town are you in. Maybe sometime we will have to check each others set-up/projects out.
[QUOTE=captainscrappy;53930]I'm at Shiloh and Arapaho... roughly. I haven't seen anything indicating anyone's in Garland til your post here. What's your 20? Be glad to share the shop with you sometime. I've had a huge downtime lately due to In-Laws living in our midst, but I'm back up and running as of yesterday. It's still a mess, but I'm workin it. I have a scoop on a place to set up shop too. Maybe, if the world works right, we could share a shop or something... The local shops I've seen aren't much, but I've only seen a few. Most in the Carrollton/Lewisville areas. Talk to me Scrap man![How much are these other guns. I wasn't planning on spending over $250. So basically what is the best gun for that price/QUOTE]

Well anyways give me a hollar, I will be working in the garage all weekend. I would like to know what all you are using in your setup and oven size. Mine is 2x3x8
