Gold plating service quote needed

I shave with, restore and collect straight razors. I prefer carbon steel blades over stainless, and I can get them close to mirror finish. I would like to see the results of having a blade gold plated. I understand this is a two part process, first plating with nickel, then with gold. I would then like to buff the gold out so it again had a near mirror finish.

Then, I need to know, will this be for display only, or could I still shave with it? Are there any health concerns from the nickel or gold, and will it wear or flake off, and how fast?

So, if anyone has a kit, I'm willing to pay to have one razor blade tested before I spend the money on a kit. A large blade is approx. 6-8 square inches. Can someone please let me know if they'll do it, and the cost?

I would say try caswell plug n plate gold, don't know about health concerns.
