I'm in the process of making some flyrod reel seats and engraving them. They are 6061 aluminum. I will be finished with one of them this week. I'm concerned about the degradation of the engraving after it is anodized. I know that anodizing doesn't add much coating but until I see the results I really can't be sure about the engraving.
I'm going to make a total of 8 sets of these for myself and friends. I don't want any colored anodizing just clear coating. Thanks |

id suggest engraving after they are anodized. Etch/Desmut will break down some of the surface area including the engraving. It wont take all the engraving away just fade it some. Where are you located?

I'm in Michigan. If I engrave these after anodizing, I will be cutting through the anodizing leaving "bare" aluminum unprotected. True? By the way hand engraving is what I do, not laser.
Are you interested in doing these for me? |
