Still setting up the shop...........I need to figure out a way to aereate many tanks in the twenty gallon range. I don't think the small aquarium pumps will do it based on a couple of prototype set ups I have been experimenting with. The 1/2 inch CPVC I have been working with has 1/16 inch holes drilled every 2 inches around the perimeter of the frame which is 12"x24", with a "T" coupling, for air input, coming out in the middle of one of the 12" sides. I have tried three different old aquarium pumps that I had lying around with limited amounts of bubble discharge from the holes I drilled. If the lines aren't exactly level, some of the lines will fill up with water and wouln't even discharge any air, due to the limited air pressure.
I read an article pertaining to printed circuit board production that described a blower setup from the exhaust side of a small shop vac. Is this safe air to blow in to various chemicals and dyes? I doubt a shop vac would last very long..... Are there any good long lasting air systems that are reasonably priced out there for a tank line such as mine? I'm pretty handy at crafting things but I need to know what kinds of air sources can be used for this application.... I have a plan to tie the tank lines together with a common air source running through 1/2" CPVC line with a ball valve controlling airflow into each tank. Any ideas on how to supply with air?
