MSDS sheets for Sealers

That's good to hear. I know I always take a look @ MSDS and/or 'ingredients' on new chemicals that I buy. Too many times have I been surprised by reactions that I didn't expect to happen... mmmm yummy green noxious gases....

My basic rule of thumb: Nothing comes into my home or shop without full disclosure. If I don't know what's in it, I don't want it around.

MSDS SHeet for one of them

Caswell came through and I finally got one of them. Check the date prepared. It seems like a very good thing to have, I have quoted it and put it below. Thanks Caswell! BTW, it would still be great to get the MSDS sheet for the Sealer LT..

1. Product Identification
Anodize Sealer
Chemical family: Inorganic metallic salt Chemical name: Nickel Acetate Tetrahydrate

2. Hazardous components of mixture
Nickel compound: 20%. This product contains the ?Nickel Compounds? toxic chemical subject to the reporting requirements of SARA of 1986, Section 313 of Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act and of 40 CFR, Part 372.

3. Physical data
Appearance: Green crystal Odor: Slightly acetic Solubility in water: Good

4. Fire and explosion
Extinguishing media: Water, CO2, dry chemical. Unusual fire/explosion hazards: None, not a fire hazard.

5. Reactivity hazards
Hazardous decomposition products: Ni or Ni0 at metallurgical temperatures (>850 C).
Stability: Stable under normal conditions. Hazardous polymerization: Will not occur.

6. Health Hazards
Routes and indication of exposure:
Inhalation: Inhalation of concentrations above the occupational exposure limits may cause irritation to the upper respiratory system. NIOSH has concluded that nickel and certain compounds are suspected carcinogens. For details, see Section-11. Toxicological Information
Ingestion: May cause gastric disturbances, diarrhea and nausea.
Skin: May cause moderate to severe irritation to skin.
Eyes: Contact can cause moderate to severe irritation and possible injury to eyes.

7. Accidental release and disposal
Steps to be taken in case material is released or spilled: Wear protective equipment. Neutralize spilled materials(absorb, pump, vacuum, shovel) immediately. Prevent run off to drains, sewers, streams or other public waterways. Follow all precautions for handling this product when dealing with spills.
Waste disposal method: Waste material may be dumped under conditions that meet all Federal, State and local environmental control regulations.
Empty containers: Residues of this product may remain in emptied containers. Containers should not be used without professional cleaning and reconditioning. Empty containers should be rinsed before disposal.
Follow all precautions on label when dealing with empty containers.

8. Personal protective equipment
Respiratory protection: An appropriate NIOSH approved respirator for vapors should be worn.
Ventilation: Use of local ventilation is suggested when using this product.
Eye/face protection: Wear chemical goggles, face shields(if splashing is possible).
Skin protection: Wear impermeable rubber or plastic gloves. wear a rubber or plastic apron. Wear normal work clothes, long sleeved shirt and pants and clean after every shift.
Personal protective equipment: Eye wash fountain and emergency showers are recommended.
Good industrial practice: In accordance with good industrial practice, avoid all personal contact. For good hygiene, a shower at the end of every shift is recommended. Wash hands well before eating.

9. First aid measures
Inhalation: If dust or vapors of this product is inhaled, remove to fresh air. Get medical attention if symptoms develop or persist.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting and get medical attention.
Skin: Wash skin contact with soap and water. If irritation develops, get medical attention.
Eyes: Immediately flush eye contact with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes and get medical attention.

10. Exposure control
Component exposure limits:
OSHA PEL: 1.0 mg/m3 as Nickel ACGIH TWA: 0.1 mg/m3 as Nickel (1993-94)
Engineering controls: Use general ventilation and use local exhaust where possible in confined spaces.

11. Toxicological
Component analysis: Oral LD50 rat: 350 mg/kg
Carcinogenity: According to OSHA CFR Part 1910-1200 (hazard communication) nickel and nickel compounds are deemed to be possible cancer hazards. This is based on assessment by the U.S. NTP that they may reasonably be anticipated to carcinogens and an assessment of IARC, which concluded that there was limited evidence of carcinogenicity to humans. There have been no studies demonstrating any excess cancer risk in workers exposed to nickel metal powder, nickel oxide powder, nickel carbonate and nickel hydroxide in their use. Other studies involving exposure to nickel dust and fumes in refining have not shown any increased risk of respiratory cancer. Also, there has been no evidence that workers exposed to soluble nickel salts in their use have demonstrated any increase risk of respiratory cancer.

Is there anywhere I can get the MSDS sheets for the different sealers caswell sells? I've tried fax and emailing them but I can't seem to get one.
