  • anodizing solder aluminum

I'm wondering how solder aluminum will react to anodizing if anyone had done this. What I have is two tubes that I'm putting together at 90* hopefully with aluminum solder which is zinc and aluminum. Will this have a big problem dissolving during the process?

    anodizing solder aluminum

I forgot to say that I have the desmut. I have the whole pre-lcd system but I haven't used it for a while.

Its difficult to say, not because of the Aluminum, but because of the Zinc. It probably depends on the % of Zinc in the solder and the amount of solder used. The zinc may dissolve in the electrolyte during the anodizing process, but another concern would be the contamination of the elctrolyte by the zinc, which could ruin the entire anodizing process.

The only way to tell for sure is to try to anodize just a small piece of the solder and see it the concentration of Zinc in it causes any problems.

        Yea..

That is what I was going to try. From what I saw somewhere one time the majority of the solder is zinc so I'm probably out of luck on this one.
