Transformer conversion

Thanks. I was going to build a box with a bridge rectifier and meters to measure the voltage and Amps. Is there anthing else I might consider.

Yes it would be possible, what you are proposing is similar to the lamp dimmer driving a battery charger idea (in the LCD Anodizing Manual). You are still going to need a reasonably accurate means to measure the DC current if you expect any success with anodizing or plating.

A tech fellow at Caswell directed me to this area for some technical information. I am just learning about plating, etc. and had a question about power sources. I restore toy trains and have various transformers. In particular, I have a transformer with 120V input, and variable 0-20 V output. This is rated at 275 watts. Is it possible to add a rectifier, or so, and use this for plating applications. Would any of you have any directions or suggestions? You help will be appreciated.
