  • color problem

    i anodized a part today just as i have done previously. i dye these parts green and i did some today and it came out black. what could have been the problem. it is the same dye i used yesterday and it worked then. any suggestions?

    Was it the same type of aluminum ? How about the thickness of the anodize ? Time the part was in the dye, and the temperature of the dye, all of these could effect the color.

      Sounds just like a smut problem. Just as rclint asked, was the material type and grade different from the last piece? Could you see any green color or tint under the black? Usually caused by a high silicone, copper or other contaminate content in the aluminum. SS
