The book says in order to avoid lead chromate formation, you should peroxide them by applying 5 amps per square foot between the anodes in a 15% sulfuric acid and distilled water solution, alternating the polarity every 15 minutes. When the book says 5 amps per square foot of anode surface area, are they counting the back side of the anode as well? In other words, with the quantity of two, 1 square foot anodes inlcuded with the triple chrome plate kit, you would figure two plates at two square feet each for a total of 20 amps?

Yes, you include front and back. 20 amps is correct.--
