  • Plating automobile screws

I want to Chrome plug n plate small screws that attach the fascia to my Corvette. They are black screws and not sure what type of paint they used on it. I used DeKote to strip them but it did not work. What can I use to do this?

Thanks. I am now using the muratic acid. Looks like it is working. What next to prepare for plating?

      Thanks!

Just rinse, degrease, rinse, and plate.

I plated all the screws and they all turned black. What am I doing wrong? Using the plug and plate copy chrome kit.

OK. I have managed to get them silver with the copy chrome kit. How do i get them to shine. They are a silver color.

You have to polish the screws so they have a "chrome-like" finish prior to plating.
Your final plating will only look as good as the surface you are putting it on.
Of course you will also have to lightly polish the plated screws to bring up the shine.
