  • Muriatic acid??

Hi!! I want to plate some circuit board lines (copper) with nickel. I have read that etching for 30 seconds in muriatic acid will clean and give a better surface for plate. What does the muriatic acid do for the prep process and does it clean the surface. Thanks --Phil

It shouldn't be neceassary to etch with acid to plate nickel over copper. Just be sure the base metal is grease free (hot water and detergent or SP Cleaner)

      Re: Muriatic acid??

      Hello,
You can activate the copper surface with a mixture of surfluric acid 10%hydrogen peroxide 15 % and mixed with water (acids into water). This will chemically clean and actiavate the copper surface.
