• What are the difference between Chrome and Chromate?

Good day, I'm confusing with what are the difference between Chrome plating and Chromate plating? It would be great to share what are both functions, materials and how to differentiate from the surface, thanks in advance

    Hi Justin,
Chromate is a top coat that is put on zinc plated items to deter the zinc from white rusting. Chrome plating is a completely different finish, the steel is nickel plated then chrome plated.

      Hi Jason,

Thanks for the answer, so shall I assume that Chormate is majority for anti white rusting or any natural rusting and Chrome plating is majority for brightening? And both are the 2nd process after zinc / nickel process completed?

No, the Chromate is only for Zinc, The Chrome would be used over Nickel.
