gold on germanium

Can I plate gold on a germanium substrate?
Is an intermediate layer necessary for better adhesion between germanium and gold? Chrome?
I need about 10 microns metallization.

are you using germanium for semiconducters or transistors or what im positive you cant chrome plate and then gold plate. im not familiar enough with the element to help beyond this.
