I was wondering if there is any way to add a color to polished stainless steel, similar to the effect of anodizing aluminum. Since anodizing doesn't work on steel, I was wondering if there is another alternative.

Paint isn't what I want to do. It doesn't have the hardness of the steel, therefore it is more prone to damage and changes the tolerances too much.

Re: adding color to ploished stainless steel?
why not add tint to automotive clear and spray it? Also it might be possible to add tint to GlistenPC.
