  • Protecting Chrome

I recently had a new exhaust put on with chrome tips. Any suggestions on how to keep the well protected from the elements? Would clear coating them help? I would buff them to a high shine then clear them. Would this keep them protected and looking good?

    Clear Coating definitely would help.

A good coat of wax makes a more temporary, but equally effective protectant.

How do you protect chrome from blueing? i.e. motorcycle exhaust pipes?

The only way is to not let it get hot.

There is a product, I cannot remember the name however, since I have doublewalled pipes on my bike I never needed it. It is to protect the chrome on motorcycle exhaust from discoloring due to heat, I'm sure you could locate the product in some bike magazines.
