  • A few newbe questions

I received a copy chrome kit and have a few questions before the actual start.
1-In two different spots in the manual it says two different solution make-ups of the SP Degreaser. Is it 8oz to 1 gal of water or 12 oz to 3 gal of water?
2-Do I have to have copper flash for alum. and steel?
3-The Zincate solution is fuzzy to me.Does it mean 25% solution to 1 full water,ie..1 gal of water to 1/4 gal solution?
4-And finally when mixing the copy chrome solution, during the 24 hr stew/dissolve period does it need to be heated all that time?
Thank you in advance for the help and I hope that these are not I,D,10,T questions.

I can help you out with numbers 2-4.
    2. With the copy chrome, you do not have to flash copper the aluminum, you only need to dip in the zincate, and then plate it. The steel is a little different process, but you don't need to flash copper it.
    3. With the bottle you got, it should make a total of 1 gallon of solution. 1 part zincate, 3 parts distilled water.
    4. You dont' need to re heat it, just heat it the first time when you are mixing it, and then let it set up.

Some little advice, you don't need to use the heater in the plating solution. Caswell told me over the phone people have been having good results without it, and I am too. Also, when plating aluminum, don't use copper wire, use brass if you can find it. Otherwise I suggest aluminum wire that you can find at radio shack.
    good luck

If you got the 1lb bags, which you probably did if you ordered the copy chrome kit, then you can put 2 gallons of distilled water into a bucket and empty the 1 lb package in. thats it
