I forgot to advise you to get our plating manual as well. http://www.caswellplating.com/complete.htm

How were you planning to get the nickel layer on the clay?[/quote]

I was hoping to be able to either paint it with a very fine brush, or use a nibbed pen.

Yes, Plug N Plate (with our new adapter) contains fine tips for detail work.
    ---------------------

I\'m a little confused about the adapter, when it mentions 220. If I wanted to put fine lines on cured polymer clay, wouldn\'t I just paint/draw them in with nickel and then just do the customary steps to plate with gold (and using the usual directions with silver for silver detailing)?

If so, could you email me a list of the things I need to order to get going with this? I don\'t want to get the supplies only to find out there was something else I needed but didn\'t know I needed it. I\'m totally new at this, so I\'d need all the essentials.

If you want to selectively plate certain areas, you\'ll need to make those areas conductive first with a conductive paint.

Yes, Plug N Plate (with our new adapter) contains fine tips for detail work.

I don\'t imagine this will be an easy task, but you could attempt it with a minimal investment.

All you\'d need to try would be a Plug N Plate Kit, the new adapter (with the pen plating tips) and some conductive paint. All can be found at http://www.caswellplating.com/kits.htm

started a topic plating on polymer clay

    plating on polymer clay

I\'m a polymer clay artist (and soon to learn glass lampworking) and am interested in plating (gold/silver/copper) on both of these media. How complicated will it be? Besides the kit(s), what equipment will I need on hand? It\'s important to do fine scrollwork on my items - will the plug and plate have accessories to be able to do \"penwork\" or is there something to buy seperately in order to achieve a free-hand sketching look on glass/polymer clay?
