How to NOT plate certain areas of part?

there is a tape specially made for electroplating, 3M makes some. You could also "paint" the areas with laquer and then use a paint remover to get it off. I don't think I would use laquer in a gun barrel though. Just us a plastic or silicon plug, you might get some liquid in there, but it will not plate because the anode placement.

What about the tape? Will that hold up to the liquid and chemicals? I think it's going to be hard to get a liquid tight seal in the barrel rifling. Thanks for the advice though.

Since no one has answered, I'll throw out an idea. Can I use wax to plug the bore? I'm using copy chrome, so the temps won't get too high. Just the degreaser will be above room temp.

How to NOT plate certain areas of part?
I'm new to plating, and my first project is going to be copy chroming a Desert Eagle hand cannon (gun). I do not want the bore or chamber to be plated. How to I either plug it up or cover it to not be plated? Thanks for the help, and I'm sure there will be plenty questions soon to come.
