  • GP Plates and Dummy Plate

Can anyone please explain to me what GP Plates are used for and what type of sheet metal is used to make a dummy. Sorry if this is a simple question, but I'm new to this and a little confused.

    Thanks Tim

General Purpose plates or GP plates are used to conduct electricity through solution and into a part. They normally need to be a size in surface area equivolent to or larger than the part being plated or anodized.

A dummy can be made from sheet metal that has not been treated, coated or galvanized. Sheet metal is a mild steel produced in sheet form.

What kind of plating are you doing?

Thanks for the info. Right now I have just been working with some copy chrome, but as I gain some exprience I plan to plate with copper and real chrome.
