  • 24k vs 18k FastGold

I gather from previous posts regarding 18k vs 24k FastGold, that:

18k is the more durable finish, paler in color, but sometimes trickier to work with.

24k is more forgiving to work with and deeper in color, but also more subject to wear.

Are these assessments correct in your experience?
Thank you for your guidance, Evangeline

    jump,
You have the gist of it. The karat rating is in relation to the purity of the gold. The lower the karat value, the more impurities but also more durability. The higher the value, the more pure and malleable the gold. As for the color, I can't give a definitive answer at this time. If all gold was the same, there would not be a grade scale. If you want another view, check with any reputable jeweler. What are you plating? SS

I've also experienced differences in color based on the plating current.
