nickle vs. chrome

Hi I\'m getting into instrument making (guitars) I was wondering if anyone can tell me which would be a better choice to withstand time and finger prints and moisture on a guitar. I have available to me both nickle and chrome hardware for the same price. Is one tougher in these respects than the other?

They\'re both good tough finishes. Chrome would require slightly less polishing than nickel.
