  • Electroless Krome is yellow?

I used the electroless krome to replate a beat up Browning HiPower pistol. While everything went reasonably well (aside from the staining in the previous message), the color looks like normal electroless nickel, and doesn\'t look in the least bit \"bluish\" or otherwise chrome-like.

    Here is a picture:

I think you have to agree that it doesn\'t look chrome at all. The solution for part A was labelled electroless krome.

Is this right? Could my solution have been mislabelled?

Other than the wrong color, I\'m quite happy with how things turned out. Feel free to use that image as part of your gallery.

What sort of lighting are you using to take that photo - which by the way is very well done?

Even nickel plate doesn\'t usually look that yellow.

Electroless Krome contains an additive that should give it a bluish tinge, like real chrome.

What color was the liquid in the bottle?

The photo was done under a halogen lamp, there are some surfaces nearby that are yellow, so the reflected light would have a yellowish tinge.
But the plating is distinctly yellow/straw colored and the photo accurately shows the color.

The color of solution A was a dark green/blue color.

Dark Green/Blue is the right color for the solution.

I\'m wondering whether the staining that occured previously caused some sort of contamination. Like I said, even pure nickel plate doesn\'t look that yellow.

Please call us and explain your situation and we\'ll see if we can figure out what happened.
