Gold plug n plate over Nickel

Can anyone tell me how to prepare the Nickel (which has covered over solid brass) for the gold plug n plate

Polish the nickel, degrease it, then plate it.

If you have anymore questions let me know I did a lot of brush plating and I even have to gold plate a emblum this weekend for Maaco on a nisson.

Soft Scrub or Dawn and hot water.

Simple Green , Dawn dishwashing soap and hot water

I'm not trying to hijack the thread or anything, but can I Gold plate over silver plate also? Anything additional I need to do to prep? Thanks,
