I would like to copper plate small quantities (500 a time; up to 5000 per year) of lead bullets for personal use. Several big companies do this, but I shoot odd ball calibers and they do not supply the calibers I need.
The lead will be either pure or an alloy mix of 30 parts lead to one part tin.
I have no experience in plating any metals to this point.
I have a small shop, and do not really want to get into lots of hard core chemicals or dangerous actions.
A couple of questions:
How much material will normally be added to the lead? Which kit will work best (it looked like the ?FLASH COPPER? kit might)? Am I heading up the wrong tree with this? Can the plating be stopped half way up the bullet to keep the nose exposed?
Thanks in advance for the help.
