    Anyone flash copper over something already chrome plated?

    you cannot plate anything over chrome. Strip the chrome first and plate onto the nickel. The nickel must me activated by a 10 to 15 second dip in 5% sulfuric

      How about stainless steal? Im building some XL wheels and Im at the point to decide what spokes to go with (SS, twisted chrome, ect) and dont want a lot of issues with stripping other plates. Do you need to activate the SS before plating?

        Stainless steel needs a special activator that caswells sells. It will probably be more cost effective and just as easy to strip the chrome. Another idea would be to blast the chrome and the nickel off and plate copper directly to the plain steel. Either way, you will have to clear coat the copper to keep it from tarnishing, clear powder coat would be the best choice.
