Can someone tell me the "gentlest" method of remov

I'm trying to remove the chrome from behind a soft film stencil, without harming the stencil.

I've read the on-line manual and have tried HC acid, HC acid at low power w/SS anode and lye solution at low power.

I haven't tried battery acid (but would if someone suggests it).

It is just a small amount of chrome and length of time isn't an issue as long as it works without going through and pinholing my stencil.
